Ahhh! It fills a great void!5
My middle girl is in those niggling pre-teen years and she is a smart, discerning, inquisitive girl. Her New Adventure bible is terrific in many ways and could indeed serve her for some time to come. In fact, we weren't looking for a new bible, because she has such a good, age appropriate one. But its funny how the Lord works in mysterious ways.

I own a Woman of Faith bible and it has brightened my world (no, I haven't been to a WOF conference; they haven't hit my neck of the woods yet). Its a study bible, in a mega-boosted devotional bible sort of way. I cannot praise it enough, and I am always sticking my nose it in. Well, so has this particular daughter (I think the schnazzy purple did her in). Lo and behold, this Young Women of Faith bible came on the market. Its weekly study themes directly coincide with my bible! And, the little butterfly icons throughout her bible means that it's particular annotation of a passage coincides with the same annotation in my bible. Of course, its not a word for word, but a paraphrased annotation, distilled for a young girl.

The best thing about these bibles (both mom's and daughter's): its heavy on the joyful message of the Lord verus the fire/brimstone fearing of the Lord. This so soothes the soul, because we want for our sources to inspire us to love the Lord, not oblige our souls to Him for fear of Hell. These are happy, meaty, joyful, encouraging bibles.

Finally, we can read, study, compare, and do devotionals together. The family that prays together, stays together. It is another tool to role model good womanly behavior. Both bibles do much to clarify cultural contexts of women in that time, which helps disassociate from any erroneous conclusion that women be subservient today. That is important in raising strong women, rooted in their faith and capable in this era.

Now, if there were only a little Promise Keeper's bible for my son for bonding with his father and our Father....c'mon, Zondervan!

My girls liked them so much they took them to bed!5
I bought this Bible for my girls who are 7 and 11. We bought the periwinkle purple leatherette one. Everything about this Bible is purple! Not only is the cover periwinkle purle, but the edges of the pages are lavender too! Inside there are highlights in pink (very girly) . There are memory verses writen in bigger letters in pink. Weekly journal entries, and one of my favorite features is that the weekly themes are the same as the Adult Women of Faith Bible, so Mom and daughter can both study the same topic. The Adult Women of Faith Bible topics just go into more dept. The devotions are very age appropiate and deal with being kind to your siblings, family and others. Different definitions are explained in pink. Wherever you see the pink butterfly that means the topic is linked to the Women of Faith Bible for adults. Side notes explain scripture. NIV. My girls liked their new girly Bibles so much, they even took their Bibles to bed with them the first day they had then!

WOWWWEEE!!!5
This version of bible is easy to understand. It's told in a way that suits the age group it's designated for. Some other bibles I've tried reading are complicated, but this one is interesting, and teaches at the same time. My friend got one for her birthday, and once I picked it up, I couldn't put it back down! I haven't had the chance to get mine yet, but I will...soon.
